Pens and pencils - storing the collection
Little things make a studio a home.
My newest item, from the local charity shop, is a tin herb pot!
With my drawings increasingly becoming ink/marker based I realised my inky tools didn't have a home. My sketching kit is mainly for the pencils. Plus I bought a new batch of coloured pencils because the old ones are in a little wooden jar... somewhere. This isn't the type of thing you lose - a whole bunch of pencils upright in a jar - but apparently I've put it somewhere even I can't locate.
So ink and colour are now together in one cute pot!
Having things out like this where I can see them always means I remember to use them more.

I spent a lot of time searching for the comment link!
ReplyDeleteI use those white plastic tubs which you get in art shops and which are sold to painters who use large quantities of paint.
Then I separate out the colours into colour groups!
The basic principle of keeping something in plain sight if you want to make sure you use it is spot on!
I thought you'd like the idea of storing pencils. :) I don't have quite enough colours for colour groups (that's all of my coloured pencils you see). But I do like to separate drawing pencils, pens, small brushes, big brushes, "tools" (paint pushers, knives, etc).
