Studio with a view

New studio coming soon...

Breaking news! (which sort of broke earlier on Facebook and Twitter but nevermind)

Dream studio no longer a dream!

Today I signed the agreement and paid my deposit for my new studio. I'm SO excited because this is my dream studio! (for the moment, don't worry I can dream even bigger) Located in an industrial site in Woolwich, a warehouse conversion. Huge window, with just a bit of a view of the Thames and the Tate & Lyle factory. In fact we are right on the Thames, we can go out a path and sit on the waterside.

Today I also got to meet a couple of the other artists who will be there, since it's being done by an existing studio group who are losing their Greenwich building to redevelopment. It's a mixed group with painters, an illustrator, sculptor, mosaic artist, animator and others. So I'm very excited to become involved with a whole new artist community - having been ingrained in the same (huge) south-London community since I started doing this full-time.

And of course, the space is massive to me. I'll be moving from a less than 10'x10' room to a larger than 10'x20' (it's actually 219 sq ft). Suitably massive paintings will be painted!

Watch this space for the grand opening celebration date.

(there are also a few studios still available, artists visit http://www.secondfloor.co.uk/ for more info)

That's fabulous news. Congrats. And go you for saying "what recession? I'm heading onward and upward". The building looks beautiful and I bet the views will be amazing.
